Every AI writing tool I tried had the same problem: it didn't know what I was replying to.

I'd open a new tab, paste in the email, explain the situation, ask for a reply, copy it back, fix the formatting… and by then I could have written it myself. Job applications were worse. I typed my name, my LinkedIn and "Yes, I'm authorized to work in…" into what felt like the same form a hundred times.

So we built KittyHome, a Chrome extension that works in the box you're already in and actually reads the room. 🐱

 TL;DR

Alt+K in any text box on any site: say what you want and get a draft that fits the conversation.

Short suggestions while you type (1 to 3 words, Tab to take them) in Gmail, Outlook, LinkedIn messages, WhatsApp Web, Telegram Web and Discord.

Job application autofill that cares about getting each answer right, not just filling boxes.

Free plan: 25 AI requests a day, unlimited profile autofill and 5 AI Smart fills a day.

👉 kittyhome.org/extension

✍️ Part 1: an AI writer that knows the context

 It reads what you're answering

This is the big one. When you press Alt+K, KittyHome doesn't only send your prompt. It sends the bits that matter:

Where you are

What it reads

Email

The thread you're replying to. Signatures, footers and quoted history are left out, so it answers the latest message.

Chats

The last few messages, so the reply follows the conversation, in its language and tone.

Comments

The post you're replying to, with its author and code blocks, even on sites that don't mark up their posts.

Google Docs

The text around your cursor or selection, so an insert fits its paragraph.

That means a lazy prompt like "reply in the same style" or "politely decline" gives you something that actually fits. You can skip the paragraph of backstory.

 Suggestions that are usually right

Most autocomplete tools try to finish your whole sentence and are wrong most of the time. KittyHome suggests one to three words. Short suggestions are right far more often, so you actually press Tab instead of ignoring grey text.

It's also polite: when Gmail or Outlook is already suggesting, KittyHome steps back, and every hint is marked as KittyHome's so you always know where it came from.

 Other handy features

Rewrite a selection or your whole draft: "fix the grammar", "shorter", "friendlier".

Translate and explain anything you select, with a language picker, and the text highlighted on the page.

Email helpers: summarize a long email and pick a one-click reply idea.

A marker shows exactly where an insert will land, because we've all lost our cursor.

Look it up (paid plans): it searches the web first and shows its sources, so it doesn't make facts up.

Sound like me / Your voice (paid plans): it cleans out stock AI phrases and can learn your writing style from your own samples.

💼 Part 2: job application autofill that gets it right

Filling a box is easy. Filling it with the right answer is the hard part. One wrong click on "Will you require sponsorship?" can quietly end an application.

Here's what KittyHome does that most autofill tools don't:

🌍 Per-country answers. Work authorization and sponsorship have a row per country. "Will you be based in the U.S. or Canada?" is checked against both.

🧠 Answers worked out from your profile. "Do you have 5+ years of experience with Python?" gets a yes or no from your work history, not a number pasted into the wrong field.

🔽 Custom drop-downs, handled like a human would. It opens them and searches, so "UK" also tries "United Kingdom", and a phone picker that only shows "+1" is matched by its dialing code.

✅ It checks that each answer took. Some sites quietly reset fields. KittyHome checks every field kept its value and tells you which didn't.

🙅 No guessing. Anything it isn't sure about is left blank and listed, and "Show it on the page" spotlights each one. A blank field you can see beats a confident wrong answer.

✍️ Smart fill for open questions. "Why do you want to work here?" is drafted from the job posting on the page plus your own experience, within the question's word limit.

📎 Résumé and cover letter uploads, forms inside iframes, and multi-step forms.

🎯 Tuned for Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Jobvite and Workable, and it works on ordinary forms anywhere else.

🛑 It never presses Submit. You read it over and send it yourself.

 🥊 How it compares

I'll be honest: these are all good tools at what they're built for. Here's where KittyHome pulls ahead.

vs Grammarly, Wordtune and QuillBot

They're great at polishing what you wrote. KittyHome is built for working out what to say, from the conversation on the page.

More free AI: 25 requests a day, against Grammarly's 100 AI prompts a month and Wordtune's 10 rewrites a day.

Short typing suggestions in your chats and inbox, not only in a separate editor.

Writing and job applications in one extension, with one plan.

vs Simplify, Jobright and LazyApply

Accuracy first: per-country answers, a check that each field took, and nothing guessed.

AI answers for open questions on the free plan (5 Smart fills a day), while others put AI answers behind paid plans or keep free autofills to a few a day.

Your review stays in the loop. Auto-apply bots send answers you never read. KittyHome fills in seconds and leaves the final read to you.

Private by default: your profile stays in your browser unless you choose to sync an encrypted copy.

It also writes the follow-ups: recruiter emails, LinkedIn messages and thank-you notes, using the same Alt+K.

KittyHome

Typical writing tool

Typical autofill tool

Reads the thread or post you're answering

✅

Rarely

❌

Works in any text box with one shortcut

✅

Some

❌

Autofills job applications

✅

❌

✅

AI drafts open questions for free

✅

n/a

Rarely

Never submits for you

✅

n/a

Some auto-submit

What it doesn't do (yet): red grammar underlines as you type, a job tracker, or bulk auto-apply. It's Chrome on a computer only. If those matter most to you, the tools above are great picks, and plenty of people run KittyHome next to them.

 🔒 Privacy, briefly

Nothing about the pages you visit is sent anywhere unless you use the assistant.

When you do, it sends only what that request needs.

Password, card and one-time-code fields are never touched.

Every feature has its own on/off switch.

 💸 Pricing

Plan

AI requests a day

Smart fills a day

Price

Free

25

5

$0

Pro

300

25

$12.99 a month

Ultimate

1,000

75

$24.99 a month

Filling from your profile is unlimited on every plan.

 Try it

Install it from kittyhome.org/extension. The welcome page lets you try every feature on practice boxes before you use it on a real email.

Generative AI is no longer just a buzzword; it's a transformative force in the world of software development. From automating mundane tasks to generating complex code snippets, AI is reshaping how developers work and innovate. In this post, we'll explore the various ways generative AI is impacting the developer community and what the future holds.

 What is Generative AI?

Generative AI refers to algorithms that can generate new content, whether it's text, images, or even code. These models, like GPT-4, are trained on vast datasets and can produce human-like outputs. For developers, this means AI can assist in writing code, debugging, and even creating entire applications.

Benefits of Generative AI for Developers

 1. Code Generation

One of the most exciting applications of generative AI is its ability to write code. Tools like GitHub Copilot, powered by OpenAI's Codex, can suggest entire code blocks based on comments or partial code. This not only speeds up development but also helps in learning new programming languages and frameworks.

 2. Automated Testing

Writing tests can be time-consuming, but it's crucial for maintaining code quality. Generative AI can create unit tests, integration tests, and even end-to-end tests, ensuring that your code is robust and reliable. This allows developers to focus more on feature development and less on testing.

 3. Debugging and Error Handling

Debugging is often one of the most frustrating parts of development. Generative AI can help identify bugs and suggest fixes, making the debugging process faster and more efficient. Some AI tools can even predict potential errors before they occur, allowing for proactive error handling.

 4. Documentation

Good documentation is essential but often neglected. Generative AI can automatically generate documentation based on the code, making it easier for developers to understand and maintain the codebase. This is particularly useful for open-source projects where clear documentation is crucial for community contributions.

 Challenges and Ethical Considerations

While generative AI offers numerous benefits, it also comes with challenges. One major concern is the potential for AI-generated code to introduce security vulnerabilities. Developers must remain vigilant and review AI-generated code thoroughly.

Ethical considerations are also paramount. The use of AI in development raises questions about job displacement and the future role of human developers. It's essential to strike a balance where AI augments human capabilities rather than replacing them.

The Future of Generative AI in Development

The future of generative AI in software development is promising. As AI models become more sophisticated, their ability to understand and generate code will improve, leading to even greater productivity gains. We can expect more integrated development environments (IDEs) to incorporate AI features, making them indispensable tools for developers.

Moreover, the collaboration between human developers and AI will likely lead to new paradigms in software development. AI can handle repetitive tasks, allowing developers to focus on creative and complex problem-solving.

 Conclusion

Generative AI is revolutionizing the software development landscape. From code generation to automated testing and debugging, AI is making developers' lives easier and more productive. However, it's crucial to address the challenges and ethical considerations to ensure that AI serves as a beneficial tool for the developer community.

As we move forward, the synergy between human ingenuity and AI capabilities will unlock new possibilities, driving innovation and efficiency in software development. Embrace the change, and let's build the future together!

What are your thoughts on generative AI in software development? Have you used any AI tools in your projects? Share your experiences in the comments below!
