Disclosure: I work on WATAM DeFi Intelligence, the tool used for this analysis. We have no relationship with Ethena Labs. Every number below comes from public Ethereum data and can be re-derived; the full page with charts and per-pool evidence is linked at the end.

Token pages show one volume number. For a token team, a fund or a listing desk, the questions behind that number matter more: how much can actually be sold before the price moves, how much of the trading looks independent, who provides the liquidity, and how much of it can be verified?

We answered those questions for ENA (Ethena) on Ethereum mainnet over 25 Oct – 1 Nov 2026 (blocks 26,265,959–26,316,188). We used token units only, with no USD conversion and no third-party prices.

 The five numbers

Question

Answer

ENA you can sell before the price drops 2%

516,045 ENA (−5%: 1.28M, −10%: 2.52M)

Share of 7-day swap volume that passes our exclusion rules

73% (61% without bot-like cadence)

Share of volume from the top 10 trader addresses

68% (1,948 distinct traders; the largest is 26%)

Share of liquidity within ±2% held by the top 5 LPs

71% (the largest LP holds 46%)

Share of 7-day volume in our verified pipeline

37% (94% without 29–30 Oct)

 This week was not ordinary

On 29–30 Oct, an address that had received ENA from the wallet labelled "Binance 14" sold 217.5M ENA in 20 swaps into two Uniswap v3 pools. Those two days carry 94% of the week's ENA volume. A typical hour moved about 354k ENA. The peak hour moved 586.9M ENA.

This is why a single "7-day volume" figure says little on its own. Most of it came from one seller over two days.

 Where ENA actually trades

We found 268 pools holding ENA on Ethereum; 66 had swaps in the window. Two pools carried almost everything:

ENA/WETH 1% (Uniswap v3): 58.4% of volume, almost all of it on 29–30 Oct.

ENA/WETH 0.3% (Uniswap v3): 36.2%.

About 60 other pools shared the rest: Uniswap v4 hooks, forks and one venue we cannot decode (Metric).

The pipeline's stored swaps for the verified pools match the chain's Swap logs 8,015 out of 8,015 times (transaction, log index and both amounts). The one gap, the 1% pool, was added to the pipeline as a result of this analysis.

Depth: tick by tick, not a TVL figure

The 516k ENA figure comes from walking each pool's initialized ticks from the current price down to −2%. It uses the pools' own on-chain state at one block, with no order-book estimates and no "liquidity in USD" proxies. TVL counts liquidity far away from the price that nobody can trade against. Depth near the price is what a seller actually meets.

 Organic vs excluded activity

"Organic" here is narrow and checkable. We exclude patterns that are not evidence of independent demand: buying and selling inside the same transaction (round trips) and sandwich legs. Separately, we flag addresses with a machine-like cadence; two addresses made 4,900 and 1,589 swaps in the week.

73% of the week's volume passes the exclusion rules, and 61% once bot-like cadence is also removed.

The five ordinary days look very different. 49.9M ENA traded, and 97% passed the exclusion rules. But only 14% came from addresses without a bot-like cadence, and the top 10 addresses made 91% of it.

We describe patterns, not who stands behind an address. Excluded is not the same as "fake".

 Why this matters

If you run a token, you probably get a volume number from a dashboard and a depth number from a market maker. This method lets you check both against the chain yourself. Each section of the full page answers five questions: what was observed, where the evidence is, how it was computed, how far it can be trusted, and how to re-check it with a public RPC.

Full analysis with charts, pool table and re-check recipes: https://defi.wearetheartmakers.com/research/market-reality-ena/

If you want a 7-day evidence report for your own token, pick it in the catalog (https://defi.wearetheartmakers.com/tokens/) and request the free report; it is emailed as a private link. Questions and corrections are welcome in the comments.
