Small bug in pictured hooks
[edit]@Evad37: Thanks for writing this, it's very handy! I've found a small bug. When "(pictured)" is removed, the output has an extra space where there's punctuation afterwards; eg Skaill House:

I see that the code removes instances of (pictured) or (illustrated) from transclusion, but I searched through a few DYK entries and also found (shown), (featured), and (depicted), as well as some that use multiple words, like (example shown) or (artist's impression depicted). It is probably unwieldy to try to list every possible parenthetical expression that refers to an image or other media, but is there another way to get around this source of potential confusion? --Lasunncty (talk) 08:44, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
Problem with text being truncated
[edit]At Portal talk:World, one of the items is being truncated. The item is
* ... that Femke Bol's time of 49.17 seconds on 2 March 2024 broke her own 400 m short track world record?
from Wikipedia:Recent_additions#8_June_2025. It is displayed as:

* ... that Femke Bol's time of [[2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships –
If anyone can puzzle out this one, that would be helpful. – Jonesey95 (talk) 00:20, 11 June 2025 (UTC)
- Evad37: I agree with Jonesey95. I just spent an hour puzzling this same error in Portal:Sport of athletics and came here to request a fix, only to find that Jonesey95 had complained four months ago. I hope this is addressed soon. —Anomalocaris (talk) 07:07, 8 September 2025 (UTC)
- This is still happening (the page that is now transcluded is Wikipedia:Did you know archive/2025/June). I looked at the Module code, but I was unable to find the cause of the issue. – Jonesey95 (talk) 12:14, 8 October 2026 (UTC)

- Codex's read is pretty much right.
[%S ]strikes me as a very strange regex, even outside of the ustring use, since that would match characters like tabs as marking an end, which I doubt is intended behaviour. I've changed it to this in the sandbox, which fixes both the case in this discussion as well as another one I found during testing. I haven't tested it thoroughly (all I've done is a quick comparison between the 2000 latest lines withand there were no differences), but I'd be surprised if this would mess much up. Aidan9382 (talk) 12:54, 8 October 2026 (UTC)- Thanks to ChatGPT and humans for identifying the immediate problem (a disallowed space character), which I have fixed on the DYK archive page. That makes the link show properly. If others want to test the sandbox further and move it to the live module, that activity is welcome. – Jonesey95 (talk) 21:26, 8 October 2026 (UTC)
- I've gone ahead and moved the sandbox change to live, so this should stop being an issue now. Aidan9382 (talk) 23:09, 9 October 2026 (UTC)
