Wikipedia:Requested moves

Requested moves is a process for requesting the retitling (moving) of an article, template, or project page on Wikipedia. For information on retitling files, categories, and other items, see § When not to use this page.
Before moving a page or requesting a move, please review the article titling policy and the guidelines on primary topics.
Any autoconfirmed user can move a page using the "Move" option in the editing toolbar; see how to move a page for more information. If you have no reason to expect a dispute concerning a move, be bold and move the page; however, it may not always be possible or desirable to do this:
- Technical reasons may prevent a move; for example, a page may already exist at the target title and require deletion, or the page may be protected from moves. In such cases, see § Requesting technical moves.
- Requests to revert recent, undiscussed, controversial moves may be made at WP:RM/TR. If the new name has not become the stable title, the undiscussed move will be reverted. If the new name has become the stable title, a requested move will be needed to determine the article's proper location.
- A title may be disputed, and discussion may be necessary to reach consensus: see § Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves. The requested moves process is not mandatory, and sometimes an informal discussion at the article's talk page can help reach consensus.
- A page should not be moved and a new move discussion should not be opened when there is already an open move request on a talk page. Instead, please participate in the open discussion.
- Unregistered and new (not yet autoconfirmed) users are unable to move pages.
Requests are typically processed after seven days. If consensus supports the move at or after this time, a reviewer will perform it. If there is a consensus not to move the page, the request will be closed as "not moved". When consensus remains unclear, the request may be relisted to allow more time, or closed as "no consensus". See Wikipedia:Requested moves/Closing instructions for more details on the process.
Wikipedia:Move review can be used to contest the outcome of a move request as long as all steps are followed. If a discussion on the closer's talk page does not resolve an issue, then a move review will evaluate the close of the move discussion to determine whether or not the contested close was reasonable and consistent with the spirit and intent of common practice, policies, and guidelines.
When not to use this page
Separate processes exist for moving certain types of pages, and for changes other than page moves:
- Making an uncontroversial move – if you can, be bold and do it yourself! If you can't, see § Requesting technical moves.
- Renaming a category – propose the move at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion.
- Renaming a stub template – propose the move at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion (because stub templates apply an equivalent category).
- Renaming an image or other file – see Wikipedia:Moving a page § Moving a file page.
- Moves from draft namespace or user space to article space
- Unconfirmed users: use the submission wizard. See Wikipedia:Articles for creation.
- Confirmed users: Move the page yourself.
- Merging two articles – make a suggestion as part of a discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, or be bold and do it yourself.
- Splitting an article – make a request at Wikipedia:Proposed article splits, or be bold and do it yourself.
- Requesting that page histories be merged – list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge.
- Contesting a move request close – use the Wikipedia:Move review process.
Undiscussed moves
Autoconfirmed editors may move a page without discussion if all of the following apply:
- No article exists at the new target title;
- There has been no previous discussion about the title of the page that expressed any objection to a new title; and
- It seems unlikely that anyone would reasonably disagree with the move.
If you disagree with a prior bold move, and the new title has not been in place for a long time, you may revert the move yourself. If you cannot revert the move for technical reasons, then you may request a technical move.
Move wars are disruptive, so if you make a bold move and it is reverted, do not make the move again. Instead, follow the procedures laid out in § Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves.
Requesting technical moves
Welcome to Requested moves/Technical requests
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request a technical move below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an experienced editor to approve of your new article or proposed rename, you are in the wrong place.
- Make sure you really need technical assistance before making a request here. Because you are autoconfirmed, you can move most pages yourself. Even if the target page exists, you can sometimes move the page normally if the target is a redirect back to the source page and has 1 revision.
- If this is your first article and you want your draft article moved to the mainspace, please use the submission wizard to submit your draft or user sandbox page for review at Articles for creation instead of listing it here.
- If you need help determining whether it's okay to move the page to a different title, then please follow the instructions at the top of Wikipedia:Requested moves.
To list a technical request: the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection or click the big blue button and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Do not edit the article's talk page, just click the button below.
To request a reversion of a recent undiscussed move: Review the guidelines at WP:RMUM of whether a reversion of an undiscussed move qualifies as uncontroversial and if so, the Requests to revert undiscussed moves subsection or click the big blue button and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
Note that in some cases, clerks, such as administrators or page movers may determine that your request for a reversion does not pass the criteria and may move the request to the contested section or open a formal requested move discussion for potentially controversial moves on your behalf.
- If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page. A bot will automatically remove contested requests after 72 hours of inactivity.
If your request requires an administrator. Usually, do so if the page has been fully protected or move protected (see this guide to which moves need administrators).

Uncontroversial technical requests
- Ramaleela → Ramaleela (2017 film) (currently a redirect back to Ramaleela) (move · discuss) – Ramaleela is just the alt spelling of Ramlila, a Hindu festival after which the film is itself titled. Gotitbro (talk) 12:44, 1 November 2026 (UTC)

- WP:NAMECHANGES specifies that we give credence to independent reliable sources, which I'd argue that a register holds no reliability since it's just a listing. Tenshi! (Talk page) 20:09, 30 October 2026 (UTC)
- @Dictzip Can you find reliable sources to support the name change? Thanks! —1isall (talk | contribs) 20:15, 30 October 2026 (UTC)
- @1isall and Tenshi!: Of course! I'm new here and still getting the hang of Wikipedia. Thanks for your patience! To clarify on the Charity Commission: it's the UK statutory regulator for Charities, rather than a third party listing. Is it generally not treated as an independent reliable source here?
- Companies House also records the legal name change from The Maritime Trust to The Maritime Heritage Trust on 21 December 2011) if that's a preferred source.
- In independent secondary sources, the rename is covered in Viv Head's Sailing Gaffers (Quartet Books, 2013), pg 233, The Maritime Foundation (2016), and the current name is used at National Historic Ships UK. Thanks! Dictzip (talk) 01:02, 31 October 2026 (UTC)
- None of those seem independent, except maybe Sailing Gaffers. — BarrelProof (talk) 20:51, 31 October 2026 (UTC)
- How are they not independent? The Charities Commission Register is itself a "independent, reliable, English-language source". Even if the link there were just a "listing" (it's more than that), it's a perfectly good source for the organization's name. Add in the other sources provided, and this seems like a straightforward request. It doesn't seem like anyone is actually challenging the fact that this is the organization's name. Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves
The discussion process is used for potentially controversial moves. A move is potentially controversial if either of the following applies:
- there has been any past debate about the best title for the page;
- someone could reasonably disagree with the move.
Use this process if there is any reason to believe a move would be contested. For technical move requests, such as to correct obvious typographical errors, see Requesting technical moves. The technical moves procedure can also be used for uncontroversial moves when the requested title is occupied by an existing article.
Do not create a new move request when one is already open on the same talk page. Instead, consider contributing to the open discussion if you would like to propose another alternative. Multiple closed move requests may be on the same page, but each should have a unique section heading.
Do not create a move request to rename one or more redirects. Redirects cannot be used as current titles in requested moves.
Requesting a single page move
To request a single page move, click on the "Add topic" (or "New section") tab of the talk page of the article you want moved, without adding a new subject/header, inserting this code:
{{subst:requested move|New name|reason=Place here your rationale for the proposed page name change. You don't need to add your signature at the end, as this template will do so automatically.}}
Replace New name with the requested new name of the page (or with a simple question mark, if you want more than one possible new name to be considered). The template will automatically create the heading "Requested move [today's date]" and sign the post for you.
The reasons for the move can be summarized referring to applicable naming convention policies and guidelines, and providing evidence in support. If your reasoning includes search engine results, please prioritize searches limited to reliable sources (e.g. books, news, scholarly papers) over other web results.
There is no need to edit the article in question. Once the above code is added to the Talk page, a bot will automatically add the following notification at the top of the affected page:
| A request that this page title be changed is under discussion. Please do not move this page until the discussion is closed. |
Unlike other request processes on Wikipedia, such as Requests for comment, nominations need not be neutral. Make your point as best you can; use evidence (such as Google Ngrams and pageview statistics) and refer to applicable policies and guidelines, especially our article titling policy and the guideline on disambiguation and primary topics.
WikiProjects may subscribe to Article alerts to receive RM notifications. For example, Wikipedia:WikiProject Biography/Article alerts/Requested moves is transcluded to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Biography. RMCD bot notifies many of the other Wikiprojects listed on the talk page of the article to be moved to invite project members to participate in the RM discussion. Requesters should feel free to notify any other Wikiproject or noticeboard that might be interested in the move request, as long as this notification is neutral.
Single page move on a different talk page
Occasionally, a move request must be made on a talk page other than the talk page of the page to be moved. For example, a request to rename Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Resources to Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Reviewing and templates would need to take place at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Articles for creation because the talk page of the project page to be moved, Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Articles for creation/Resources, is a redirect to that centralized discussion page. In this type of case, the requested move should be made using the following code:
{{subst:requested move|reason=(the reason for the page move goes here).|current1=(present title of page to be renamed)|new1=(proposed title of page)}}
The |1= unnamed parameter is not used. The |current1= and |new1= parameters are used similar to multiple page moves described below.
Requesting multiple page moves
A single template may be used to request multiple related moves. On one of the talk pages of the affected pages, create a request and format it as below. A sample request for three page moves is shown here (for two page moves, omit the lines for current3 and new3). For four page moves, add lines for current4 and new4, and so on. There is no technical limit on the number of multiple move requests, but before requesting very large multi-moves, consider whether a naming convention should be changed first. Discuss that change on the talk page for the naming convention, e.g., Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (sportspeople).
To request a multiple page move, edit at the bottom of the talk page of the article you chose for your request, without adding a new header, inserting this code:
{{subst:requested move
| current1 = Current title of page 1 (this parameter can be omitted for discussions hosted on a page that is proposed to be moved)
| new1 = New title for page 1 with the talk page hosting this discussion
| current2 = Current title of page 2
| new2 = New title for page 2
| current3 = Current title of page 3
| new3 = New title for page 3
| reason = Place here your rationale for the proposed page name change, referring to applicable naming convention policies and guidelines, and providing evidence in support. If your reasoning includes search engine results, please prioritize searches limited to reliable sources (e.g. books, news, scholarly papers) over other web results. You don't need to add your signature at the end, as this template will do so automatically.
}}
For example, to propose moving the articles Wikipedia and Wiki, put this template on Talk:Wikipedia with current1 set to Wikipedia and current2 set to Wiki. The discussion for all affected articles is held on the talk page of the article where the template is placed (Talk:Wikipedia). Do not sign the request with ~~~~, since the template does this automatically (so if you sign it yourself there will be two copies of your signature at the end of the request). Do not skip pairs of numbers.
RMCD bot automatically places a notice section on the talk page of all pages that are included in your request except the one hosting the discussion, to call attention to the move discussion that is in progress and to suggest that all discussion for all of the pages included in the request should take place at that one hosting location.
For multi-move discussions hosted on a page which is itself proposed to be moved, it is not necessary to include the |current1=Current title of page 1 for the page hosting the discussion, as its current title can be inferred automatically. Occasionally the discussions for significant multi-move requests may be hosted on WikiProject talk pages or other pages in Project namespace, in which case it is necessary to include |current1= to indicate the first article to be moved.
If you have to update a RM from a single move to multiple moves, you need to add the following parameters to the {{requested move/dated}} template call:
|multiple=yes|current1=Current title of page 1|new1=New title for page 1 with the talk page hosting this discussion|current2=Current title of page 2|new2=New title for page 2|currentN=Current title of page N|newN=New title for page N|}}
- ...where N represents more pages to be moved. Place a pipe ( | ) at the end just before the final set of braces ( |}} )
Request all associated moves explicitly
Please list every move that you wish to have made in your request. For example, if you wish to move Cricket (disambiguation) to Cricket because you do not believe the sport is the primary topic for the search term "Cricket", then you actually want to move two pages, both Cricket (disambiguation) and Cricket. Thus you must list proposed titles for each page affected by your request. For example, you might propose:
If a new title is not proposed for the sport, it is more difficult to achieve consensus for a new title for that article. A move request that does not show what to do with the material at its proposed target, such as:
is incomplete. Such requests may be completed as a request to decide the best new title by discussion.
- Cricket → ?
If a disambiguation page is in the way of a move, the request may be completed as proposing to add (disambiguation).

Requested move 3 November 2026
– why Example (talk) 02:56, 3 November 2026 (UTC) |
Commenting on a requested move
All editors are welcome to contribute to the discussion regarding a requested page move. There are a number of standards that Wikipedians should practice in such discussions:
- When editors recommend a course of action, they write Support or Oppose in bold text, which is done by surrounding the word with three single quotes on each side, e.g.
'''Support'''. - Comments or recommendations are added on a new bulleted line (that is, starting with *) and signed by adding
~~~~to the end. Responses to another editor are threaded and indented using multiple bullets. - The article itself should be reviewed before any recommendation is made; do not base recommendations solely on the information supplied by other editors. It may also help to look at the article's edit history. However, please read the earlier comments and recommendations, as well as prior move requests. They may contain relevant arguments and useful information.
- Vested interests in the article should be disclosed per Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI.
When participating, please consider the following:
- Editors should make themselves familiar with the article titling policy at Wikipedia:Article titles.
- Other important guidelines that set forth community norms for article titles include Wikipedia:Disambiguation, specific naming conventions, and the manual of style.
- The debate is not a vote; please do not make recommendations that are not sustained by arguments.
- Explain how the proposed article title meets or contravenes policy and guidelines rather than merely stating that it does so.
- Nomination already implies that the nominator supports the name change, and nominators should refrain from repeating this recommendation on a separate bulleted line.[a]
- Do not make conflicting recommendations. If you change your mind, use strike-through to retract your previous statement by enclosing it between <s> and </s> after the bullets, and de-bold the struck words, as in "•
SupportOppose".
Please remember that reasonable editors will sometimes disagree, but that arguments based in policy, guidelines, and evidence have more weight than unsupported statements. When an editor offers an argument that does not explain how the move request is consistent with policies and guidelines, a reminder to engage in constructive, on-topic discussion may be useful. On the other hand, a pattern of responding to requests with groundless opinion, proof by assertion, and ignoring content guidelines may become disruptive. If a pattern of disruptive behavior persists after efforts are made to correct the situation through dialogue, please consider using a dispute resolution process.
Closing a requested move
Any uninvolved editor in good standing may close a move request by assessing consensus after the requested move discussion has been open for at least seven days (168 hours). Please familiarize yourself with the quick guide to closing requested move discussions before performing any close. Some best practices for closing are outlined at Wikipedia:Requested moves/Closing instructions.
Relisting a requested move
Relisting a discussion moves the request out of the backlog up to the current day in order to encourage further input. The decision to relist a discussion is best left to uninvolved experienced editors upon considering, but declining, to close the discussion. In general, discussions should not be relisted more than once before properly closing.[b] Users relisting a debate which has already been relisted, or relisting a debate with a substantial discussion, should write a short explanation on why they did not consider the debate sufficient to close. While there is no consensus forbidding participation in a requested move discussion after relisting it, many editors consider it an inadvisable form of supervote. If you want to relist a discussion and then participate in it, be prepared to explain why you think it was appropriate.
Relisting should be done using {{subst:RM relist}}, which automatically includes the relister's signature, and which must be placed at the very end of the initial request after the move requester's signature (and subsequent relisters' signatures).
When a relisted discussion reaches a resolution, it may be closed at any time according to the closing instructions; there is no required length of time to wait before closing a relisted discussion.
If discussion has become stale, or it seems that discussion would benefit from more input of editors versed in the subject area, consider more widely publicizing the discussion, such as by notifying WikiProjects of the discussion using the template {{RM notification}}. Banners placed at the top of the talk page hosting the move request can often be used to identify WikiProjects suitable for notification.
Notes
- ↑ A nominator making a procedural nomination with which they may not agree is free to add a bulleted line explaining their actual position. Additional detail, such as sources, may also be provided in an additional bullet point if its inclusion in the nomination statement would make the statement unwieldy. Please remember that the entire nomination statement appears on the list on this page.
- ↑ Despite this, discussions are occasionally relisted more than once.
- This section lists all requests filed or identified as potentially controversial which are currently under discussion.
| Do not attempt to edit this list manually; a bot will automatically update the page soon after the {{subst:Requested move}} template is added to the discussion on the relevant talk page. The entry is removed automatically soon after the discussion is closed. To make a change to an entry, make the change on the linked talk page. |
This list is also available in a page-link-first format and in table format. 89 discussions have been relisted.
- (Discuss) – MotoGP Legends → MotoGP Hall of Fame – The MotoGP Hall of Fame is now the most presitigious honor. Back then, MotoGP Legends is indeed synonymous to the HOF, but lately in 2025, they created a separate HOF, with those being honored as "Legends" now classified under HOF. The current "Hall of Fame" is more presitigious and exclusive; the "Legends" tag is just under the prestige of HOF. I don't think the Legends need a separate article though; it's enough for them to have their own section here in the HOF page (once moved). - (Discuss) – London Underground S7 and S8 Stock → London Underground S Stock – I feel like that's the common name that people call these trains. The current name is kinda long and convoluted. - (Discuss) – ARIA Music Awards → ARIA Awards – ARIA officially refers to the awards as the ARIA Awards, and has done so for a long time. This is the name used during broadcast, and is also the name used in every publication I can find discussing the awards. "ARIA Music Awards" may be more immediately informative to someone unfamiliar with the subject, but it isn't the official or common name of the awards, and there doesn't appear to be any other notable awards show with the same name that someone might confuse it with. ~2026-58105-44 (talk) 00:51, 3 November 2026 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Whirlpool (1950 film) → Whirlpool (1949 film) – The film was released in the United States on November 28, 1949; in the previous discussion, there does not appear to have been a consensus for changing it to the current title. ~2026-58344-20 (talk) 23:43, 2 November 2026 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – 1st Golden Globes → 1st Golden Globe Awards – This temporary account ~2026-51624-17 wants RMs enacted for some so-called "potentially controversial" but legitimate move reversals, stating that "
a revert is clearly not uncontroversial
", which is utterly gob-smacking! The editor (who fun fact was blocked twice for WP system gaming and disruption and has a history of barely gaining communal support for actions) enacted an RM to change the title of the parent article of the titles above to use its current name. After it closed as moved, the editor boldly (but incorrectly) moved these titles to have "Golden Globes" in them, despite the article contents, cited sources and official event posters in those articles showing otherwise. I can't fathom how controversial this is when the editor himself/herself is controversial, not to talk of his/her statements, pronunciations and actions. I can find no English-language reliable sources that use this name that show it is the WP:COMMONNAME; those referring to the Ramsar site use the French name. I would accept the argument that the topic of the article is the geographic region, not the specific protected area, in which case it should be moved to Coastal wetlands of Togo, but in any case, not stay at the current title. ~ A412 talk! 03:50, 23 October 2026 (UTC) — Relisting. - (Discuss) – Amiet market massacre → 2026 Amiet market attack – Move to standard WP:NCEVENT title. Alternatively 2026 Amiet market drone strike or something like that. Including year per WP:NOYEAR, as the event is too recent to evaluate in a "historical perspective" (in line with previous consensus for titling articles about recent events, e.g. this RM about the 2024 Kerman bombings). The usage of the current title would only be permissible as a WP:COMMONNAME, per WP:POVTITLE, but looking at the sources used in the article I see no evidence of that. The title should therefore be a WP:NDESC, and "massacre" is not considered a neutral descriptor (it is actually given as an explicit example of a non-neutral title at WP:POVTITLE). –Maltazarian ᚾparleyinvestigateᛅ 17:33, 26 October 2026 (UTC) — Relisting. The legal company name remains "The Irish College of General Practitioners CLG"; this can be stated in the lead, but article titles follow common usage rather than legal names. Although titles usually avoid abbreviations (WP:ACRONYMTITLE), "GPs" is part of the organisation's name as now used by sources. The current title would remain as a redirect. - (Discuss) – List of private military contractors → List of Private Military Companies – I believe this article should be titled "List of Private Military Companies." The linked "private military contractor" article in the introduction has already adopted C for Company, which is the most common and precise label. Private Military Contractor is imprecise because "Private Military Contractor" can refer to both an organization or an individual person (an employee of such an organization). Company makes it clear we are listing organizations. "Military contractor" is also a very broad term, so this list includes Raytheon and Northrup Grumman, which are not the same kind of organization as something like Wagner, Executive Outcomes, or Vectus Global. I think Raytheon and NG should be removed, but it is harder to justify that removal as long as this article is titled "contractors." I expect most readers of this article are here looking for Wagner-esque modern mercenary groups. NeonVanadium (talk) 23:16, 25 October 2026 (UTC) — Relisting. - (Discuss) – Heracleidae → Heraclidae – Per W :COMMONNAME. In both Latin and English, the standard spelling of this word – which is the plural of Heraclides – is Heraclidae (with diacritics: Hēraclīdae), showing the typical Latin coalescence of the vowels ‹ei› into ‹ī› when Latinising Greek words. Heraclidae is also the standard spelling in English: *see JSTOR (441 results for “the Heraclidae” versus 337 results for “the Heracleidae”) * see also Ngram which shows that “the Heraclidae” is the most common spelling. The present title is mixing a direct transliteration of Greek (Herakleidai) with what is currently the standard Latinisation and English form (Heraclidae). ~2026-58343-35 (talk) 20:28, 1 November 2026 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Orne → Orne (department) – I don't believe the department is the primary topic, as it takes its name from the Orne (Normandy river), which is a historically significant and well-known river. It is the second-longest and second-largest river in the region in terms of discharge, after the Seine. In similar cases, the river is considered the primary topic: en:Meuse, en:Loire, en:Rhône. I therefore propose that "Orne" be used as the title of the disambiguation page. ~2026-58146-62 (talk) 14:42, 1 November 2026 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Carmen Jordá → Carmen Jorda – The subject spells her own name "Carmen Jorda", without the accent: her official Instagram and X accounts both display it that way. Her employer Alpine does the same in its official announcement (Alpine press release, November 2025), as does recent English-language coverage (The Race, November 2025 and Variety, December 2025). Per WP:COMMONNAME and WP:UE, the title should follow usage in English-language reliable sources, which here also matches the subject's own usage. For transparency: Spanish-language press generally keeps the accent, so this is a question of English usage, not of correcting the Spanish spelling. Disclosure: I am a declared paid contributor for the subject (see the disclosure on this page and my user page), which is why I am opening a requested move for the community to decide rather than moving the page myself. - (Discuss) – The Art of Personal Chaos → The Mayhem Ball – Per WP:COMMONNAME, we should use the name that is most commonly used in reliable sources. The Art of Personal Chaos is not even sourced in the article, and doesn't even get any mentions outside the lead section. A simple search on Google indicates that it is an obscure name that almost nobody use it (except fans or fansites). Some editors may argue that this article is not only about The Mayhem Ball, but also about some early promotional shows for the album. Fine, then Mayhem concerts or Mayhem tour would be a much better title, as it's more natural, concise, and recognizable. Bluesatellite (talk) 09:28, 1 November 2026 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Flight and expulsion of Germans (1944–1950) → ? –
Flight and expulsion of Germansor 1944–1950 flight and expulsion of Germans if a year range is desired, or Flight and expulsion of Germans during and after World War II as another alternative.The year range in the current title is not a disambiguator since Flight and expulsion of Germans already redirects here. It can be removed entirely since all other articles the title could refer to are subtopics of this one (Flight and expulsion of Germans from Poland during and after World War II, Expulsion of Germans from Czechoslovakia, Deportation of Germans from Romania after World War II, etc.), and this topic is significant enough to meet WP:NOYEAR. Many other "Expulsion of" articles do not contain any year: . (I suppose it's possible that this title could refer to German exoduses/expulsions after World War I, which were far smaller in scale, but there is no standalone article about that, and this article would likely be the primary topic anyway.)Alternatively, if a year range is desired, it should be placed at the beginning, not at the end—the examples in WP:NCWWW do not read Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami (2011) and Russian constitutional crisis (1993). Note that MOS:YEARRANGE discourages abbreviating the range to 1944–50. Replacing the year range with "during and after World War II" is another option, matching the current title in Template:Expulsion of Germans. - (Discuss) – Yuri → Yuri (disambiguation) – I believe the genre is the primary topic. Of all of the many terms that can be referred to solely as "yuri" (i.e., not including Yuri Gagarin, because nobody would ever type Yuri into the search bar and expect to land on his page), the genre receives about two-thirds of the pageviews (Pageviews analyses: ). Under PT1, which requires that an article receives more views than all topics and more views than any other topics, this clears. It receives more than 10x the views of all other topics, except for Yuri (Mexican singer), where it receives only 5x as many views. From Wikinav, most traffic on the dab page is directed to this article, though it is only about 40%. After that, the next highest amount is the first entry Yury (at about 25%), which I can't tell if it is natural traffic or just people giving up at the dabpage.Under long-term significance, I believe the genre has the most, given that it is a genre, something that is obviously more to sources attentions than names or whatnot. People are publishing sources titled By Your Side: The First 100 Years of Yuri Anime and Manga, nobody is publishing sources titled By Your Side: The History of the Japanese name Yuri. The only entry with any possible contention of some equivalent long-term signficance is the Mexican singer. However, the dab page is formatted so that she and the genre and the 6th and 24th entries, respectively. I don't think that serves readers particularly well. I believe readers would best be served by a hatnote formatted as
This article is about the genre. For the Mexican singer, see Yuri (Mexican singer). For other uses, see Yuri (disambiguation)This would improve navigation to both the singer and the the genre, which combined receive about 85% of the views. 1brianm7 (talk) 02:06, 1 November 2026 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Spellbound → Spellbound (disambiguation) – All three of these films are primary topics by long-term significance. In general, almost all of Alfred Hitchcock's films tend to have an outsized influence in film history, but these especially so. One at a time: Spellbound was critically acclaimed, and was nominated for a slew of awards. Most notable among these was an Academy Award for Best Picture nomination, one of just a handful of Hitchcock films to have received that honor, and a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Director, which is one of only five competitive Oscar nominations he received. Spellbound is one of only two films to have been nominated for both awards, the other being Rebecca. It's also one of the most popular films of both Ingrid Bergman's and Gregory Peck's filmographies. Its soundtrack was one of the first to be commercially released in album form, a practice that continues to this day. It also helped popularize Freudian psychology to the general public, creating the dominant image of psychiatry that still largely exists in the public view to this day. None of the other entries on the Spellbound dab page measure up in long-term significance. Notorious is regarded as one of the greatest films of all time. It's been recognized as one of the greatest films ever by, among many others, Roger Ebert, the American Film Institute, Time magazine, and the BBC. Hitchcock's usage of a loophole to get around censorship mandates makes it one of the most high-profile films of the era to fight the Hays Code. It also represents a turning point in Hitchcock's career in which he pivoted to more mature films, making Notorious a forebear to such films as Rear Window, Dial M for Murder, Vertigo, and Psycho. It was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Film Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". Some of the entries in the dab page have been popular, most notably the Duran Duran album, but none have been as historically important as the film. Foreign Correspondent is probably the least important of the three overall, but still easily clears its competition. Like Spellbound, it's one of only a handful of Hitchcock films to be nominated for Best Picture. The only competition is an Australian documentary series and a couple of lines on the correspondent page, which is where foreign correspondent redirects to. Even if you do treat this as an entry, it's clearly separated by WP:DIFFCAPS already. Among the three, the film gets 93% of total pageviews, and has clearly more long-term significance as well. As a reminder, the primary topic is neither what first comes to your mind, nor is it the dictionary definition. There are a number of articles where the primary topic is a specific subject even though it shares a title with a common word or phrase, including Frenzy, Unforgiven, and Tenet. Neither is that name held up by WP:COMMONNAME (because no RS call the course of events by that name). The name "2026 Polish Constitutional Tribunal standoff", or "-crisis", or "-dispute"-any variation of that name-will be both better fitting the entire situation and significantly easier to find: this can be proven by checking the pageviews analysis-"2026 Polish (something)" is broadly more findable. - (Discuss) – Yazidis → Yezidis – I've held off on this for a long time, even though the mixed spelling has bothered me for years, as I know a move like this is a lot to ask. The change would have to be carried through article bodies and neighboring pages, and that is extra work for editors who watch them. But I'm planning to create new articles with this term in the title, so I'd like to settle the spelling first, once and for all. Specialist scholarship on the subject uses "Yezidi", "Yezidis" and "Yezidism" as the standard spelling, and per WP:NAMECHANGES and WP:SCHOLARSHIP I think the titles should follow it. I'm asking for both together so the two titles stay consistent. Examples of "Yezidi" used wherever it might have a highly relevant role in editing on Wikipedia: * International Journal of Yezidi Studies, peer reviewed, published by the Centre for Yezidi Studies at Ilia State University and the International Yezidi Theological Academy in Tbilisi. * The Yezidi Studies book series (Frank & Timme, Berlin), edited at the Yezidi Studies Center, Leipzig University. * Works of Kreyenbroek and Omarkhali, two of notable scholars on Yezidism who use this spelling in their works ("Yezidism and Yezidi Studies in the early 21st century" in 2016, "The Yezidi Religious Textual Tradition: From Oral to Written" in 2017, "God and Sheikh Adi are Perfect. Sacred Poems and Religious Narratives from the Yezidi Tradition" in 2005, "Yezidism between Continuity and Transformation" in 2021, among many other works). * Other examples of scholars and academic monographs using "Yezidis" that are cited extensively on Wikipedia pages: Açıkyıldız, The Yezidis: The History of a Community, Culture and Religion (2010); Maisel, Yezidis in Syria: Identity Building among a Double Minority; Tezcür (ed.), Kurds and Yezidis in the Middle East: Shifting Identities, Borders, and the Experience of Minority Communities (I.B. Tauris, 2021); Rodziewicz, The Yezidis of the South Caucasus (2026). These are only a sample of highly credible sources, as I do not wish to overwhelm this proposal, but if one goes into rabbit hole on related literature, it'll be apparent that the overwhelming part of monographs and papers relevant to Yezidis use this spelling. Also of note is "Yezidi Alphabet: The Way to Unicode" in 2023. The script was proposed to Unicode by Rovenchak, Pirbari (himself a leading scholar) and Karaca, as "Yezidi" (L2/18-238). As for Google statistics, for what they're worth, Google Books gives about 156,000 results for "Yezidism" against 2,600 for "Yazidism", and about 108,000 for "Yezidis" against 64,600 for "Yazidis". Scholar by contrast gives about 24,500 for "Yazidis" and 14,800 for "Yezidis", but 1,920 for "Yezidism" against 685 for "Yazidism". The ngram for 2014 to 2022 shows "Yazidi" and "Yezidi" as well as "Yazidis" and "Yezidis" at close to the same rate, or higher for "Yezidis", as of 2022. The gap is even bigger between "Yezidism" and "Yazidism", with Yezidism being higher. "Yazidi" became common in news coverage, growing sharply after 2014 Yazidi genocide, and is mainly found publications in fields that approached the Yezidis through the ISIS genocide, such international criminal law, human rights and medical research on survivors. "Yezidi" however, has a much broader use, in religious studies, history, anthropology, linguistics, political science, sociology, etc. If this passes, I'd follow up with the other titles that contain the term (such as Yazidi genocide and Persecution of Yazidis), along with categories, templates and such. "Paris Orly" is used by the article itself in the lead (!), the official English site (albeit not entirely consistently) and plenty of reliable sources like Guardian, ABC, RFI, etc. A subquestion is whether it should be Paris Orly or Paris-Orly. - (Discuss) – Rocket Man → Rocket Man (disambiguation) – Might as well do both of these at once. The song and film are the primary topics. They're distinguished from each other, as well as other variants like "Rocket Men" and "The Rocket Man", by WP:SMALLDETAILS, and a hatnote from each pointing to the other and the dab page should take care of confusion. The song is easily the primary topic, with 89% of pageviews of all articles titled "Rocket Man" put together, and substantial long-term significance as Elton John's signature song, and having lasted and retained popularity for over fifty years now. The dab page does mention that "rocket man" is used as a synonym for an astronaut or cosmonaut, but this seems to be fairly uncommon usage; it isn't even mentioned as a term on the page, and WikiNav shows no recorded traffic to astronaut. The film's case is even simpler: it is the only article titled "Rocketman" on Wikipedia. Ladtrack (talk) 06:20, 29 October 2026 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Mallorquín → Mallorquín (horse) – or Caballo Mallorquín or possibly Cavall Mallorquí. I don't believe there is a primary topic. Mallorquín means 'Mallorcan' in Spanish and is thus the name for many of the entries at Mallorca (disambiguation). I stumbled across this page looking for the article Mallorcan dialect. Source search is complicated by the overwhelming number of Spanish-language sources—mostly not referring to the horse—and people with the surname Mallorquín in Google Books and Google Scholar. Regular Google search results are mixed between the horse and the dialect. Mallorcan and Majorcan are both redirects to Mallorca. Sentence case Caballo Mallorquín is probably justified per MOS:LIFE although it's a little unclear since the breed standard cited in the article is in Spanish, which uses sentence case. —Myceteae🍄🟫 (talk) 18:34, 5 October 2026 (UTC) — Relisting. - (Discuss) – Romano-Gothic → Transitional architecture – Romano-Gothic is not a term widely used in English, with Transitional being favoured by sources including Nikolaus Pevsner, John Henry Parker, Victorian Gothic architect George Gilbert Scott and the Oxford Dictionary of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. While the term "Transitional" is somewhat ambiguous, it is generally accepted as referring to the transition between Romanesque and Gothic, rather than any other transitions between architectural styles. Google Ngrams has far more hits for "Transitional style" or "Transitional architecture" than "Romano - Gothic", although this is in part due to other unrelated topics muddying the waters. - (Discuss) – Us Moderates → We Moderates – The current title "Us Moderates" is an ungrammatical, word-for-word translation of the Italian party name "Noi Moderati." In English, the pronoun "We" is grammatically required for a subject phrase like this. Moving the page to "We Moderates" corrects the grammar while providing a proper English translation for readers, aligning with Wikipedia's preference for accurate English styling. ALTERNATIVE PROPOSAL: If editors prefer to avoid English translation disputes altogether, I suggest moving the page to its native Italian name, **Noi Moderati**, which is widely used by international media and complies with Wikipedia's naming conventions for political parties (WP:NC-PL). Reliable sources generally refer to this as a ceasefire or a ceasefire agreement.[6][7][8][9][10] "Agreement" is necessary in this case because the existence of a de facto ceasefire is heavily disputed if not demonstrably false. - (Discuss) – Ludwig von Falkenhausen → ? – "Freiherr" doesn't work as a disambiguator because both of these men were barons. Per WP:NCDE#Titles, "Freiherr" should be translated to "baron" at least for the second man who died before nobility was abolished and titles became part of the surname in 1919. The same reasoning probably applies to the first man too because he's most known for his actions in World War I which happened before 1919. So perhaps both should be called Baron Ludwig von Falkenhausen (born 18xx) or Ludwig, Baron of Falkenhausen (born 18xx). Or just Ludwig von Falkenhausen (born 18xx). Nevertheless, Mediawiki doesn't let us distinguish uppercase Miles from lowercase miles. - (Discuss) – Southern Moreton Bay Islands (Redland City) → Southern Moreton Bay Islands – This is confusing because Southern Moreton Bay Islands and Southern Moreton Bay Islands (Queensland) already redirects to Southern Moreton Bay Islands (Redland City), implying a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, as is the only inhabited island group of the two. However, the comma disambiguation is currently pointing to the Gold Coast one. It is confusing that comma and parentheses disambiguation leads to two different articles. Separate to this RM, I propose retargeting the then new redirect Southern Moreton Bay Islands, Queensland to Southern Moreton Bay Islands. Hatnotes already exist, which can be rewritten, will solve any confusion. I'd be happy to fix any incoming links after this move. Per WP:NCAUST, because the Gold Coast place is a gazetted locality (albeit with no population) and a naturally occurring geographical feature/place, I am following the spirit of
Where further disambiguation is required, the local government area name is used in parentheses following the state name
, which is meant to disambiguate local government areas, but ", Queensland" is unnecessary because there's no Southern Moreton Bay Islands anywhere else in the world to warrant Southern Moreton Bay Islands, Queensland (Gold Coast), analogous to something like Cedar Creek, New South Wales (Tweed). WP:NCAUST also does not require disambiguation for a primary or only topic, unlike WP:USPLACE, but technically this doesn't apply to natural geographic features as the Redland City one appears to only be a natural geographic feature.
