Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RfPP)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection).

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to remove obvious vandalism.

Request addition of protection to a page, or increasing the current protection level

Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level

Request a specific edit be made to a protected page

Request the non-urgent protection of multiple pages that do not require immediate administrator attention

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request addition of protection to a page, or increasing the current protection level

Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing by the same vandal who was present a year ago when the page was last protected. They continue with their attempt to change the order of actors' names in credits, with the aim that one actor's name precedes the others. It's really annoying at the moment. ~2026-58132-78 (talk) 08:58, 1 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Isabelle Belato 🏳‍🌈 10:28, 2 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Reason: There are currently a ton of rumors that he died and I'd suspect a bunch of people are about to try to update the page before there is official confirmation. I Googled whether he was dead and when I saw the Wikipedia entry saying yes, I thought it was confirmed. ~2026-52859-76 (talk) 03:44, 2 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Isabelle Belato 🏳‍🌈 10:29, 2 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Reason: Indefinite semi-protection: high level of TA disruption, also WP:CT/IMH. Sutyarashi (talk) 04:46, 2 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Reason: The article concerns an ongoing, highly popular reality television programme and receives frequent public attention. Due to its visibility and the potential for disruptive editing, I believe temporary semi-protection may help maintain the article's reliability and prevent unconstructive contributions from anonymous and newly registered users.

I request administrators to review the article's recent edit history and consider applying temporary semi-protection if the level of disruption meets the protection criteria.

Thank you. Bijzindia (talk) 05:16, 2 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – Repeated (re)addition of unsourced content; no engagement on article talk page despite requests to do so. 10mmsocket (talk) 06:57, 2 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement. EaglesFan37 (talk) 07:56, 2 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – WP:CT/SA article subject to severe IP etc. socking: Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Oriental_Aristocrat/Archive#22_March_2026. Including the recent content blankings. Gotitbro (talk) 08:20, 2 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Indefnite semi-protection: PC timesink. Almost no good edits from non-autoconfirmed accounts. Giovanni Potage (talk) 08:53, 2 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Reason: Inclusion of material not related to the topic. The article is about the event WWE Draft 2024, which took place between April 26 and April 29. However, IPs try to include every other move after the Draft ended, from 2024 to 2026, which is not related to the event WWE Draft 2024. It's not related, WP:FANCRUFT and WP:INDICRIMINATE HHH Pedrigree (talk) 09:01, 2 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Persistent disruptive editing by temporary user(s), which has been going on for months. Milkk7 (talk) 09:54, 2 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Reason: Recently page has been edited frequently by multiple ID's who are not even Extended confirmed Users. But they are editing and changing the official language. Give the protection to this page and revert it to October 19 version ~2026-58129-08 (talk) 10:37, 2 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Possible school kid target. Entranced98 (talk) 11:52, 2 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Isabelle Belato 🏳‍🌈 12:01, 2 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Reason: Persistent vandalism since November 2025. --JAAqqO (talk) 12:08, 2 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Semi-protected for a period of 6 months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Isabelle Belato 🏳‍🌈 12:19, 2 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – As soon as protection expired, same WP:CT/SA violation started again. Shah Of Nowhere talk! 12:44, 2 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Not done. No justification provided, nor does it seem necessary. Isabelle Belato 🏳‍🌈 13:03, 2 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – BMX, just expired. dualcerbtalk 13:27, 2 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Indefinite extended protection: 1118 transclusions, which is nothing to sneeze at, but I hardly believe this template requires template protection, especially when it's being used somewhere less visible (a category) Shocksingularity (talk) 02:52, 1 November 2026 (UTC)reply

Temporary extended protection: 2552 transclusions is nothing to sneeze at, but I hardly think this template requires template protection, especially considering it's used in a less visible location (a category) Shocksingularity (talk) 02:53, 1 November 2026 (UTC)reply
