Hi! I am Kfdzcoffee

Nice to meet you!

Who am I?

A high school senior born in 2009, ENFP (though I often bounce between E and I – that’s so me).

The online name “Coffee Bean” (咖啡豆子coffee) came about quite casually. I once had a kitten with brownish fur, and since I couldn’t think of a good name at the time, I called it Coffee Bean.

Back then, I was still young and had just discovered Douyin (around 2020, if I remember correctly). I saw many pet bloggers sharing their lives with their pets, and I desperately wanted to be one of them.

So I changed my online handle to “Coffee Bean coffee” (since I found that “Coffee Bean” alone was already taken). But in the end, I never became a pet blogger.

Before that, I had a rather scary habit – I used my real name everywhere online. Every social platform displayed my full real name, until I added a stranger online and suddenly realized how unsafe that was – I had to change it immediately.

But I couldn’t think of a new name, so I just used the Douyin name, and I’ve kept it ever since. (I figure, “if you keep changing it, who knows who you are?”)

About my site

Domestic Site

This is the fifth version of my little site.

Version 1 – The most technically challenging one for me (not that I have much tech skill anyway). Built with Hexo. It was the one with the most pitfalls – back then, errors popped up at almost every step (seems like most tutorials assume all environments are already set up), but I managed to get it working.
Version 2 – Built with Valaxy. This is when I bought my current domain – `kfdzcoffee.cn` – named just as simply. This old version is still preserved here for nostalgia: Old blog.
Version 3 – Switched to Halo. This was when I finally got a VPS (mainly because I couldn’t stand not being able to update from anywhere – static sites were too cumbersome, and I wanted to tinker with other fun stuff). This version was rather unstable and often crashed.
Version 4 – Moved to the famous WordPress with a premium theme (ouch, my wallet! but it looked gorgeous). The reason for the switch was that I wanted a more minimalist site, so I cut many features.
Version 5 – The one you see now. Back to Halo, because I love its plugins.

International Site

This is the third iteration of my international site, and it’s been a bumpy ride.

Version 1 – Built with WordPress, but the server specs were too weak, so I couldn’t maintain it and it was left idle.
Version 2 – Built with Valaxy. Updates were more frequent, but since it’s static, updating was still inconvenient, so I always wanted to switch back to a dynamic system.
Version 3 – The current one, powered by Typecho. I spent a lot of time tweaking the theme in the admin panel to make most visible content English-friendly for international visitors.
