Q1: Apple Inc. is a major company. Shouldn't it be the primary topic for 'Apple'?
A1: Apple Inc. is a big company, but people have eaten apples for thousands of years, and will continue to do so. Both the company and any number of other objects are relative newcomers that have been named after the fruit. The fruit's long-term significance is described in places such as Apple#History, Apple#In culture, and Apple (symbolism). Because of the fruit, we have the Isaac Newton apple incident and ancient motifs like "shooting an apple off one's child's head" and the golden apple. That gives the fruit a permanence and long-term significance which the company does not have.
Q2: Why don't we treat the company and the fruit as equals, make this article into 'Apple (fruit)', and have a disambiguation page pointing to both of them?
A2: In at least 6 move discussions (see the list below) on this page, Wikipedia editors have determined that the fruit is the primary topic, so disambiguation is not required.
Q3: The disambiguation question is important and deserves to be discussed.
A3: It has been debated thoroughly in at least 6 move discussions. You can see all of them in the 'Discussions' list below.
