New OIF Report

[edit]

Hi, there is a new report by the OIF studying French usage in the world and the distribution of French speakers. You can access it here: https://www.francophonie.org/ressources?type=394&theme=All. I tried to incorporate some of this info, but unclear if we want a different source to update the header and other info. This info can also be used in other pages (geographic distribution of French speakers, African French, etc.). Joiedevivre123321 (talk) 23:23, 28 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

There is no such thing as "Indian French", much like saying "British French" and "Japanese Chinese"

[edit]

"Indian French" never formed as a dialect. There is an "Indian English" which is a true English dialect and language dialect of India whose language is of foreign origin. Please change this and remove that. ~2026-32705-16 (talk) 00:17, 24 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

"Francaise" listed at Redirects for discussion

[edit]

The redirect Francaise has been listed at redirects for discussion to determine whether its use and function meets the redirect guidelines. Readers of this page are welcome to comment on this redirect at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2026 July 29 § Française until a consensus is reached. Wrong datas for world distribution of speakers

[edit]

The image of 2023 about the native speakers is wrong and outdated.

Please use instead for 2026:

C'est bon!
In English use the period "." instead of the comma "," for decimals. So France should read 58.3% and so on.
I would also list the source and double-check the source. I am surprised Congo-Brazzaville would have so many native speakers but Gabon, Côte d'Ivoire, and Cameroon would not. How is it defined and is defined consistently between locations?
Cool chart! Joiedevivre123321 (talk) 16:35, 12 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
