From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi, I'm a computer software geek type living and working in San Francisco, CA, USA. I consider myself a technical editor, which means I'm more likely to contribute to Wikipedia/Wikidata through code and bots rather than traditional edits.

Technical Editors Are Editors Too

Not contributing enough to Wikipedia is on my short list of things I feel perpetually guilty about.

WP1: assessments and offline Wikipedia

[edit]

I am currently one of the maintainers of User:WP 1.0 bot, which you might know from tables like the one below. Since 2018, I have re-written, extended and deployed the current "third" generation of the bot. My work on the bot includes the WP 1.0 portal site which is a browsable list of all the tables that the bot generates. The source code for the bot is on Github, and all technical editors are welcome to contribute!

Articles in this table may be listed in multiple projects. The counts, especially the total article count, is not a count of the total number of articles in English Wikipedia.

Google Summer of Code

[edit]

As part of my work with Kiwix, I've hosted three separate Google Summer of Code contributors/interns. We've worked on features for WP1 in 12 week increments and all of the projects have been completed successfully!

Bay Area Wikipedians

[edit]

I'm also a co-organizer of the Bay Area Wikipedians . If you're in the SF Bay Area, check out our page and come to one of our events! They're open to all, and we feature technical discussion time at every meetup/WikiSalon.
