A brief introduction

[edit]

Welcome to my userpage. I'm User:ChamithN and I started editing Wikipedia in 2014. I mainly edit articles related to computer science and entertainment; however, I'd be glad to help if someone needs my assistance for articles outside of my comfort zone. I tend to make a lot of typos over the course of editing. So, if you come across any (even in my talk page comments), feel free to revert/fix them, and/or ask me for clarification. I believe in WP:BRD cycle; ergo, I'm always up for civil and meaningful discussions. If you have any questions regarding editing Wikipedia, feel free to ask at the Teahouse or my talk page.

German reconnaissance picture of Sovetsky Soyuz

The Sovetsky Soyuz class was a class of battleships begun by the Soviet Union but never brought into service. They were designed in response to the German Bismarck-class battleships, and would have rivaled the Imperial Japanese Yamato class and America's planned Montana class in size, although with significantly weaker firepower. Up to fifteen ships were planned, but the first four were plagued with construction difficulties as the Soviet shipbuilding and related industries were not prepared to build such large vessels. One, Sovetskaya Belorussiya, was cancelled after serious construction flaws were found. Construction of the other three ships was suspended shortly after Nazi Germany invaded the Soviet Union in June 1941. All three of the surviving hulls were scrapped in the late 1940s. Mõdriku Manor
Mõdriku is a village in Vinni Parish in Lääne-Viru County, northeastern Estonia. It is the location of Mõdriku Manor, a house that was first mentioned in 1470, and belonged to several Baltic-German families, including the family of the Russian general and explorer Alexander von Kaulbars. His ancestor R. A. von Kaulbars, reputedly a great patriot, put up the column commemorating the French invasion of Russia in 1812 that is still visible in the manor park. The building dates partly from the 17th century, with substantial alterations in the 1780s and 1890s. During the 20th century, it was used by various schools.
