I've been using Wikipedia for many years. I joined out of a desire to improve long-underdeveloped articles, particularly ones with available references that simply haven't been used. I've greatly enjoyed my experience here, and hope to continue helping out. If you're an editor here, thank you; if you're not, then it's a great time to start.
Though I enjoy writing content, I've gradually shifted more of my focus into maintenance work, as it's typically an area which less editors are involved with. Nevertheless, if a random topic interests me enough to work on it, I aim to develop its article to the fullest extent possible.
I usually work in the area of WikiProject Anime and manga, a personal interest of mine. I focus on adding details about series' productions and receptions, which are crucial for establishing real-world context and notability. I also assist with internal project pages, such as by updating listings of reliable sources at WP:A&M/ORS.
While the media I work on overlap with my personal interests to some extent, the degree of available sourcing is what usually takes precedence. In a few cases, I've even improved articles about series I'm personally not a fan of, which, if I've done my job well, should look pretty much the same as the ones I do enjoy. It also means my openness to collaborating on an certain article might be greater than you expect, so always feel free to ask.
I'm interested in editor retention, and have signed up as a mentor for new users, along with welcoming them whenever possible. I encourage others to do the same.
Contact
As of October 2026, I'm reasonably active here and should see any talk page messages quickly. If I don't reply within a day, feel free to follow up.
If you'd like to send a file or discuss something over email, please message my alternate account, Crestfalling's mail. This is only necessary if the email involves attached files or requires a reply from me; otherwise, you can email this account. Alternatively, I have an account on the Wikimedia Discord server (just type my username in the search bar). If you contact me via email, please notify me somehow, since I don't check it very often. I also have a mobile account, Crestfalling mobile.
Also, there are many accounts named Crestfalling on the internet. Only a few of them are mine, but feel free to ask about one anyway if you're curious; I won't consider this outing.
Good editors are our most valuable resource. Editing is hard and everyone makes mistakes. Being kind in every interaction, especially with newcomers, is one of the most important things you can do to improve Wikipedia. Lost contributions will never be seen, yet their impact will nevertheless be felt.
Reliable sources matter a lot, and it's best to get it right the first time. While an uncited claim sticks out to any observant reader, a claim cited to an unreliable source is much less obvious, especially for readers who may not be familiar with the subject (which, for all we know, might be why they're reading an article).
Verifiability is what's given Wikipedia its reputation over the years. More than just nicely formatted inline citations, an article achieves verifiability when a reader can see how a source supports the text without having to make any assumptions in between.
Neutrality and thorough research go hand-in-hand. All articles, to some extent, are selective in their presentation of information. To assess an article as neutral, we should consider not only how what is included, but also what is excluded.
Inspired by both things I've seen and users who I admire. Although my main topic areas are rarely ones that involve any contention, it never hurts to be accountable.
I grant non-exclusive permission for the Wikimedia Foundation Inc. to relicense my text and media contributions, including any images, audio clips, or video clips, under any copyleft license that it chooses, provided it maintains the free and open spirit of the GFDL. This permission acknowledges that future licensing needs of the Wikimedia projects may need adapting in unforeseen fashions to facilitate other uses, formats, and locations. It is given for as long as this banner remains.
Minor edits multi-licensed into the public domain
I agree to multi-license my eligible text contributions marked as minor edits, unless otherwise stated, under Wikipedia's copyright terms and into the public domain. Please be aware that other contributors might not do the same, so if you want to use my minor edit contributions in the public domain, please check the multi-licensing guide.
