I'm an electrical engineer working in embedded systems and embedded software. As part of my job, I regularly write technical documentation in English, although it is not my first language.
I'm interested in abandonware, old software and retro video games, particularly the preservation of software and the culture surrounding it. Older software is an interesting record of how computing, games and digital culture evolved.
Music is a big part of my life. It has always been my main hobby and interest, and my favourite form of art. It helps me get through the day and keeps me motivated. I know that might sound a bit like cheating because everyone listens to music, right? But it's a bit like how some people are big film fans and watch movies every weekend. I spend some time every day discovering new music, so I actually dedicate quite a bit of time to listening to music, looking for new bands in my favourite genres, and reading about the origins and history of the bands I like, as well as the meanings behind their songs. You often discover interesting connections between different artists.
I'd say I enjoy most types of music, but I'm particularly into subgenres of metal and rock, especially from the early 2000s underground and indie scenes. My favourite genre may be post-hardcore, followed by alternative metal, emo and screamo.
These interests heavily influence my contributions to Wikipedia. I'm still a relatively new editor, so most of my contributions are fairly small. For example, I might add some information to articles about bands that are quite short, or do some of the typical newcomer tasks such as fixing formatting issues and correcting typos.
Obviously, there are thousands of articles on Wikipedia, so I tend to focus on topics I'm interested in and know something about, mainly music bands, as I mentioned, but also films. I've always used Wikipedia a lot myself, so it feels nice to give something back.
