I am a research scientist working in neurobiology, with a few publications in peer-reviewed journals. I have worked on studies in molecular biology, neurotoxicology, and neurodegenerative disease. I contribute to Wikipedia to improve public understanding of cell biology topics. Sometimes, I create new reaction schematics or upload some of my own images from older microscopy experiments.
Goals on Wikipedia
Overall, my goal is to improve accuracy, clarity, and accessibility of cell biology topics for students, researchers, and the general public. Recently, I have been working on creating articles related to post-translational modifications. I will be doing this as a member of WikiProject Molecular Biology.
To address the fact that under Lipogenesis, a banner writes: "This article needs attention from an expert in biochemistry. The specific problem is: Nowhere on Wikipedia, not even here, triglyceride synthesis is described in detail, whereas fatty acid synthesis is fully described elsewhere.WikiProject Biochemistry may be able to help recruit an expert. (July 2018)"
Updates
[January 2026]: Reorganized content for clarity and coherence, created new reaction schematics with individual infoboxes (+ captions), wrote an extensive review for the new "Cytosolic Fatty Acid Synthesis" section, and completely rewrote the introductory section/landing paragraph to improve readability without loss of detail.
[January 2026]: Added a new "Fatty Acid Nomenclature" section to facilitate the use of said nomenclature later on throughout the article, created and uploaded new schematics for demonstrating nomenclature (with infoboxes + captions) overall and for individual nomenclature systems (ie., the ω-x system and the delta (Δ) system).
[January 2026]: Added the reaction infobox at the top of the page, which includes an image of the overall schematic, general descriptions of function, key enzymes, and primary products, as well as a historical section noting the dates and authors of major discoveries about the pathway (beginning in 1813).
Notable Resources

Remaining Article Concerns
[April 2026]: The reaction schematics may not be responsive on desktop should the window become resized, and a similar issue presents on the mobile app.
To address the fact that under Lipid Droplet, a banner stated that: "This article may be too technical for most readers to understand. Please help improve it to make it understandable to non-experts, without removing the technical details. (March 2015)"
Updates
[January 2026]: Rewrote and organized content for clarity and coherence, added multiple extensively reviewed sections and subsections to improve article content, and completely rewrote the introductory section/landing paragraph to improve readability without loss of detail.
[January 2026]: Added a new "Significance" section to note the importance of lipid droplets (fat) within the human body, in the context of both health and disease (including the complications of both anorexia and obesity).
[January 2026]: Completely rewrote a new "Structure" section using updated review articles and primary sources (post 2015); added subsections including "Outer membrane monolayer", "Membrane surface proteins", "Lipid droplet core", "Lipid droplet heterogeneity", and "Differences across cell types".
[January 2026]: Added a new "Lipid Droplet Biogenesis" section using up to date review articles (namely Klemm & Carvalho, 2024), including detailed reviews in subsections "Availability of fatty acids", "Fatty acid synthesis", "Catalysis of triacylglycerol lens formation", "Lipid droplet budding", "Lipid droplet growth and maturation", and "Protein regulation of lipid droplet formation".
[January 2026]: Added a new "Protein Targeting to Lipid Droplets" section using up to date review articles (namely Klemm & Carvalho, 2024), including detailed reviews of major classes of proteins involved in this process, discussed in subsections "Class I proteins: ERTOLD pathway" and "Class II proteins: CYTOLD pathway".
[January 2026]: Added multiple new confocal microscopy images of lipid droplet staining in adipocytes (from my own stockpile of images taken during reagent optimization experiments in D. melanogaster) with captions; shows two, two-channel images of BODIPY 505 or Nile Red staining with DAPI, as well as a three-channel image showing the cell membrane, lipid droplets, and nuclei.
[January 2026]: Added a new organelle infobox at the top of the page (to match that of mitochondria), which includes a confocal microscopy image (from my own microscopy work, in adipocytes), general descriptions for organelle functions and components, and a historical section noting the dates and authors of major discoveries about the organelle (beginning in 1813).
[January 2026]: Removed previous content which was causing issues with technicality; plan to reintegrate content where applicable (so it is not totally destroyed). Technical nature of the content requires a more conventional (or convenient) preamble which I've not gotten around to writing yet. This content (on Lro1) may reappear once I go to expand the "Protein regulation of lipid droplet formation" section, or may be entirely rewritten. If nothing else, I'll see if it can be plugged into a new page on Lro1.

Remaining Article Concerns
[April 2026]: Need to update older subsection "Synthesis of Triacylglycerol" (I'm guessing it's from 2015) , I think I just stopped here (it's not my writing, and also doesn't match the tone of the article).
[April 2026]: Subsection "Protein Regulation of LD Formation" could be promoted to a full section if you're willing to expand on it. I would place it below "Protein targeting...", and expand far beyond what's necessary to cover in "LD Biogenesis" (just leave what makes sense for readability therein).
Future Directions
[April 2026]: Expand section "Organelle-Lipid Droplet Contacts"; major sections (if not articles of their own right) could be created for LD-Mitochondria contacts, as well as for LD-Peroxisome contacts (ie., pexopodia).
[April 2026]: Create individual article pages to cover content in subsections "Class I proteins: ERTOLD pathway" and "Class II proteins: CYTOLD pathway".
Updating article to reflect results from Soares, et al. 2025 (which came out September), including more background information on Galectin-3 and its involvement in neurodevelopment and brain injury.
Updates
[September 2025]: Added a new "Clinical Significance" section, and wrote an extensive review of the significance of Galectin-3 in a new "Early Neurodevelopment" section, as well as a shorter review for a new "Brain Injury & Stroke" section.
