Casper, Wyoming

[edit]

I have reverted your last two edits to Casper, Wyoming, because they were out-of-scope. Details about the design of buildings are too specific for a US city article. You may wish to write an article about these buildings and add specific details there. Please see WP:USCITIES, WP:UNDUE, and WP:VNOT. Thanks. Magnolia677 (talk) 21:32, 21 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thank you so much, I am new to this, I just saw through the view history your reasonings. Atarialive (talk) 21:34, 21 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
You're doing great. Your edit was well sourced. Wikipedia has tons of rules, but if you enjoy writing, it's a wonderful place. Feel free to message me if you need any help! Magnolia677 (talk) 21:49, 21 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
I just added someone else on the notable people, check it out if you like. He was a Casper Native, multiple articles about him. I love writing I just have no where to put it haha, how do you get all those cool badges on your profile? Atarialive (talk) 21:56, 21 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
He's going to get nuked from the notable people list because he doesn't meet the criteria (not a pro player; no article). Magnolia677 (talk) 22:27, 21 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Alright I will revise. Atarialive (talk) 22:29, 21 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
I revised it but I figured out how to add more helpful links. I'm having fun. Atarialive (talk) 22:33, 21 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Presentation of the Virgin Mary Holy Metropolitan Church, a link pointing to the disambiguation page Turks was added. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Information icon Hello, I'm Sahaib. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Michael D. Higgins have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. Sahaib (talk) 08:37, 27 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Sahaib Thanks for letting me know, my account is a a couple to a few years old but I am extremely new to editing. I'm trying to learn all the ropes so any advice or tips is truly appreciated Atarialive (talk) 15:47, 27 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

I see you are adding WAY too many wiki links to things that don't need links. Check out MOS:OVERLINK. Also, please dont change spelling from British to American in articles that dont warrant it. Thanks! Masterhatch (talk) 12:35, 27 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Masterhatch Thank you, I'll be more careful about it, I will help more with revising tone and such. Atarialive (talk) 15:39, 27 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Masterhatch Sorry about some of the mistakes, I'm pretty new to this. I really do appreciate the help. I read that section you sent me, so what I do understand is if I do add links it should be connecting 100% to the article and assists readers with the context. Such as linking specific people, etc. Atarialive (talk) 15:44, 27 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
My concern was your linking to common terms. Generally, examples of overlinking common terms include linking to everyday words, common occupations, dates, countries, languages, nationalities, and religions. Basically, don't link to words or things that people are likely to already know. For example, you would not link "dog" or "supper" in this sentence: Mr Smith walks his dog every day after supper. Another thing to keep in mind is Wikipedia:EASTEREGG. Make sure the links you add make sense. Anyways, we are hear to help. Any questions, please dont hesitate to ask. Most of your edits seem good and i dont want to discourage you from editing. We need more quality editors and i think you will be a great addition. Wikipedia has a lot of rules and its hard to know/learn them all. Shit, i mean, i'm still learning. Masterhatch (talk) 16:09, 27 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
In regards to the spelling changes you made, read WP:ENGVAR. If an article uses British English, don't change it to American, and vise versa. I also noticed you had changed a direct quote. You cant change a direct quote, otherwise its not a direct quote anymore. Masterhatch (talk) 16:14, 27 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Masterhatch,
I appreciate you and your help. You being a Wikipedian for 20 years, and telling me I'd be a great addition is flattering. I was worried at first because I have heard that some people get banned for certain things, but I'm not sure what haha. I guess I will learn as I go along, and it is great to be a impact to the community. Please feel free to message me anytime and offer advice, because I would like to do the best additions I can to help the knowledge of others.
Sincerely,
Atarialive Atarialive (talk) 21:29, 27 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Four big reasons people get banned: vandalism, using AI, using sockpuppets, not learning from mistakes (meaning you were shown the rules but continually ignored them). There's other reasons too, but if your hearts in the right place and you work with other editors, you'll do just fine. We have a pretty good community here on wiki and if you arent sure about something, ask. Masterhatch (talk) 21:52, 27 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
