Request reason:
1) I wish to contribute occasionally. My primary focus will be an uncrowded niche: utilizing my background as an amateur powerlifter to update, format, and expand articles for notable lifters. 2) For context, I was blocked about 19 or 20 years ago for a dispute involving voting rules and consensus. While I was wrong to actively pursue discipline against the admin in question, I now recognize the best path was simply to walk away; two wrongs don't make a right. 3) That friction occurred nearly twenty (20) years ago. I have matured, kept a clean record off-wiki, and simply wish to contribute on a constructive, part-time basis. 4) Since my current editing habits are an unknown quantity, I am fully open to editor supervision, mentorship, or standard probation. If any editor objects to a contribution I make, I will yield immediately to avoid any disruption. Accept reason:
Gordon, you are considered banned by the community. That means only the community may choose to unban you. See WP:UNBAN for more details. Would you like me to copy your request over to WP:AN to start that discussion? Disclaimer: I'd include my own comment noting that it's been almost twenty years since you were banned, and that we'd surely not have noticed if you had illicitly created a new account to resume editing, so the fact that you went through the proper channels should substantially count in your favour. Frankly, I think after this much time has passed, it's worth applying WP:AGF and WP:ROPE, it's just that I can't make that decision on my own. --Yamla (talk) 19:43, 27 October 2026 (UTC)
- Yes, Yamla, I would be very grateful if you would copy my request over to WP:AN to initiate that discussion.
- Thank you for pointing out the distinction between a community ban and an admin block—having been away for two decades, I was mistaken on that procedural nuance, but I fully respect the community process and trust those charged with overseeing it.
- I sincerely appreciate your offer to include your opening comment regarding the time elapsed, my choice to use proper channels rather than evasion, and the principles of WP:AGF and WP:ROPE. Thank you for your guidance and help. --GordonWatts (talk) 20:13, 27 October 2026 (UTC)

- Thank you, Yamla. I have been following the thread at WP:AN and sincerely appreciate your advocacy, as well as the thoughtful comments and trust from Schazjmd, rsjaffe, and jpgordon. I am monitoring the discussion closely and will remain available on my talk page if any questions arise. --GordonWatts (talk) 23:42, 27 October 2026 (UTC)\
- I was away for a day, busy with other things, but just checked the WP:AN page and the block logs, and see that you unblocked me, * Pppery * it has begun.... Thank you for your trust; while I don't any real need to edit any further at Terri Schiavo, because it's been maintained well, in my absence, nonetheless, I concur with the views that it's best to be on the safe side, and view this as a cautionary tale, and less is more, and reflecting on past arguments I had, I was wrong to get mad over small matters than did not harm me. I will be reflecting on that, as I move forward with current research. And, thank you, again, Yamla (talk) and the rest of the community for trusting me. I hope to show my gratitude with positive, even if incomplete, contributions. GordonWatts (talk) 22:33, 29 October 2026 (UTC)

WP:5P is a good place to start, getting back up to speed on our policies and guidelines. Those have changed quite a bit over the past twenty years. I'm happy to see you were unbanned, and sincerely grateful to you for being up-front about everything. Welcome back and happy editing! --Yamla (talk) 22:43, 29 October 2026 (UTC)

The page Draft:Ernie Lilliebridge Jr has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G15 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it exhibited one or more of the following signs which indicated that the page could only plausibly have been generated by large language models (an "AI chatbot" or other application using such technology) and would have been removed by any reasonable human review:
- Communication intended for the user: This may include collaborative communication (e.g., "Here is your Wikipedia article on..."), knowledge-cutoff disclaimers (e.g., "Up to my last training update ..."), self-insertion (e.g., "as a large language model"), and phrasal templates (e.g., "Smith was born on [Birth Date].")
- Implausible non-existent references: This may include external links that are dead on arrival, ISBNs with invalid checksums, and unresolvable DOIs. Since humans can make typos and links may suffer from link rot, a single example should not be considered definitive. Editors should use additional methods to verify whether a reference truly does not exist.
- Nonsensical citations: This may include citations of incorrect temporality (e.g a source from 2020 being cited for a 2022 event), DOIs that resolve to completely unrelated content (e.g., a paper on a beetle species being cited for a computer science article), and citations that attribute the wrong author or publication.
Text produced by these applications can be unsuitable for an encyclopedia, and output must be carefully checked. Pages created using them that did not undergo human review may be deleted at any time.
Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think these signs were incorrectly identified and you assert that you did carefully check the content, you may contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you may open a discussion at Wikipedia:Deletion review. Additionally – if you would like to create an article but find creating new encyclopedia content yourself difficult, please share this with other editors at the Teahouse, and they may be able to help. LLM
[edit]Hi, I see that you've been blocked for nearly two decades (whoa), but now that you're back (and welcome back!), please be aware that we disallow the use of LLM or other AI-based tools pretty much completely, and certainly in what comes to generating drafts. I've just deleted your two Lilliebridge ones on this basis. Please see WP:LLM and the various guidance documents it points to, for more information. Best, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 05:33, 30 October 2026 (UTC)
- Sorry about the 'Faux Pas.' Yes, I do use Google search, and some AI's to help me research, but I won't submit anything myself for actual publication (as distinct from these drafts, here) until I have proofread every single word of it, and compared the citations claimed with the sources used. I did skim, or peruse, however, all that I submitted for review, but I admit that I didn't proofread it all first. Sorry again for the mistakes, here. They weren't in bad faith. When I get a chance, I'll proofread all that I've submitted, myself, as I do catch AIs making typos. '(We didn't even have AIs or LLMs back 20 years ago, so this is a wakeup call and a cautionary tale!)
- Yes, it's been a while; nice to be back, and thank you for the warm welcome. I'm glad I had enough sense to submit to drafts, and not to public web space!
- I'm exhausted at the moment, so please be patient with me, and proceed as you see fit, here. GordonWatts (talk) 06:21, 30 October 2026 (UTC)
