The Task Center
Learn what Wikipedians do and discover how to help. Has a list of maintenance tasks you can do.
- Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
- It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
- If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue on the article's talk page. Be civil, and reach a consensus there before restoring the edit.
- Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
- When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source. Do not use AI-generated text.
- If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
- Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.
Happy editing! Cheers, 𝕁𝕄𝔽 (talk) 16:31, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- Hey JMF, thanks for the welcome message!
- Finally, convinced myself to contribute to Wikipedia. Planning to do some further edits and then finally contribute my first article the upcoming weeks and months.
- Looking forward to the journey! KnowledgeQuestWriter (talk) 17:38, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- I see your account is three years old, but a late welcome is better than none. 𝕁𝕄𝔽 (talk) 18:13, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- Yeah, I probably felt a bit overwhelmed at first and didn't feel ready to contribute (some imposter syndrome). After having written several papers at the university, I feel much more confident now.
- Thanks for providing some warm hospitality, JMF! KnowledgeQuestWriter (talk) 14:54, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
- Good to remember the aphorism: if you don't get reverted now and again, you aren't being WP: BOLD enough. Everyone visiting assumed to be acting in good faith until they prove otherwise. Mistakes are permitted! 𝕁𝕄𝔽 (talk) 16:06, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
- Love it, thank you for the kind words!
- Will surely give my best. 😊 KnowledgeQuestWriter (talk) 19:01, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
