Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Additionally, you must be logged in, have 500 edits, and have an account age of 30 days, and you are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on any page within this topic.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

reversion of my relisting of 'Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2026 August 13#The Nails (Kentucky band)'
[edit]Why did you say I relisted the discussion 'Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2026 August 13#The Nails (Kentucky band)' improperly unlike with the other discussions I've relisted today, that that didn't function properly, and that relister is directly involved anyway? PK2 (talk; contributions) 01:14, 30 August 2026 (UTC)
- There were a couple things that made this relist different than the others:
- The relist did not completely work, unlike all of the others. It removed all of the discussion without moving it to Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2026 August 30.
- As you were the one that created the nomination, that makes you involved. Involved editors should not be relisting or closing discussions per WP:RELIST and WP:NACD. You were not involved in any other discussions, only this one, so I only reverted this relist. See also this comment for a similar case (though by different users).
- These are the reasons why the relist was reverted. Mathguy2718 (talk) 01:40, 30 August 2026 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Category:Redirects from Pitcairn-Norfolk-language terms indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 21:47, 13 September 2026 (UTC)

Different spheres of attention
[edit]I greatly empathized with this comment you made at RfD. As a result, I found another solution for ~23/26 soft redirects in projectspace which were recently converted to disambiguation pages.
It can be quite frustrating when a solution that works well for those monitoring one thing (in this case soft redirects) causes issues for those patrolling another (ibid. disambiguations)—I have been on the other side of such a situation before, much to my chagrin. Thank you for bringing that to my attention! — Godsy (TALKCONT) 05:21, 12 October 2026 (UTC)
