Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your recent edits to Letchworth-Love Mounds Archaeological State Park when you modified the page, you introduced unknown parameters. Just because you specify |some_param=some_variable does not always mean that variable will display. The |some_param= must be defined in the template. You can look at the documentation for the template you are using but it is also helpful to use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and ensure that the values you have added are displaying correctly. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. Note I have likely fixed the error by now so check the history of the page to see how it was fixed. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance.

Good article nominations RfC
[edit]Hi Operator 16,
There is an ongoing Request for Comment (RfC) at Wikipedia:Good article nominations/August 2026 RfC, which you may be interested in because in the past year, you have nominated or reviewed more than one good article nomination. This message has also been sent to all subscribers to the Good Article Gazette. The RfC contains many proposals (33 at the time of writing), which are split into the following categories: nominators, reviewers, reviews, volunteer roles, reviewing initiatives, and others. However, you are more than welcome to add any proposals of your own that you wish to put to the community.
By the end of September, all the proposals will have been closed by an uninvolved editor, either as a consensus for one of the options or with no consensus. At this point, editors will be invited again to develop these proposals into coherent policy and implement them.
Thank you for your contributions to the good articles project, and I look forward to your input! (in solidarity), JacobTheRox(talk|contributions) 16:03, 11 August 2026 (UTC)
- Special:Diff/1368900746 as you can see in that refactor, you should have your signature be on the same line as your comment in an RfC. I also would probably avoid using an arrow? But that's not as strict a requirement as making sure your signature is on the same line :) CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!â 18:49, 11 August 2026 (UTC)
- Rats I just went through with all my comments... Can you point me to a MOS or other standards page where these are spelled out? I'll bet there are more I am missing.
- Also, why not the arrow? Operator 16 (talk) 18:54, 11 August 2026 (UTC)
- Keeping the signature on the same line is implied by Wikipedia:Signatures#How_to_sign_your_posts, though its not necessarily spelled out. Its just how we do things. As a practical matter, keeping your signature on the same line makes it harder for your signature to get separated from your comment. As for why not the arrow...you can keep it if you'd like? Its just not something I've ever seen anyone do before, and I don't think necessary. But I don't see that using the arrow is a problem if you like using it :) CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!â 01:46, 12 August 2026 (UTC)

Navboxes
[edit]Please do not remove navigation boxes from pages. "Nobody clicks them" is not a reason to remove useful navigational aids. Thank you. - The Bushranger One ping only 22:04, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
- Oh ok. I thought it was optional like the old "See also" sections that were at the bottom of many pages.
- Just curious, is there any MOS or other sort of rule requiring them? đ´Operator 16 (talk) 22:08, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
- See WP:NAVBOX for some reference. Consensus is usually required for disputes over whether articles should be included or excluded from a navbox template. If an item is mentioned in a navbox template, the template should appear in the article.
- Generally speaking, though, they are incredibly useful for navigation (obviously), maintaining wikiprojects, maintaining categories, and finding general topical overlaps/directories. This is especially the case for the protected areas template, which I use (and have edited) from time to time, considering a lot of the articles are underserved; navboxes can bring attention to them.
- There's actually a relevant community wishlist item on meta-wiki (here) regarding mobile accessibility for navboxes if you're curious to check it out.
- @The Bushranger feel free to correct if I'm wrong. Jacob Rampino (talk) 22:47, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
- That sounds about right. (And a 'See also' section, while indeed optional, should not be removed if one already exists, as a note, barring its contents being entirely unrelated of course.) - The Bushranger One ping only 23:26, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks both! Yall gave some helpful context, and the mobile wishlist item is interesting. I'll leave the navboxes in place. For the record, WP:CLN says they're "neither required nor prohibited" and are settled by consensus per article, so if I ever think one is genuinely unhelpful on a specific article I'll raise it on that article's talk page rather than just removing it. đ´Operator 16 (talk) 17:29, 3 October 2026 (UTC)
