Regarding User:~2026-39761-35
[edit]I have reason to believe that they are same user as User:~2026-46057-28 who made several unsourced edits regarding Juggalo Championship Wrestling wrestlers being "signed" to the promotion despite it being explicitly said multiple times that JCW does not sign wrestlers. I think considering their persistent unsourced edits that they should be given the indefinite block. Unknownuser45266 (talk) 05:15, 24 August 2026 (UTC)

- Thank you for helping. Also, may want to look at Arik Cannon's article. There were some derogatory edits (which had to be removed by me and a few other users) one of the IP editors. They made some troll edits regarding his controversy with AJ Styles' son Avery along with making derogatory edits including him being a "backyard wrestler" when there wasn't exactly any proof that he was. Unknownuser45266 (talk) 06:20, 24 August 2026 (UTC)
- Update: Found who was making the troll edits on Cannon's article. It's User:~2026-44149-87 and a possible sock account (User:~2026-37841-88) Unknownuser45266 (talk) 06:23, 24 August 2026 (UTC)

1RR restriction
[edit]Hi PhilKnight,
I'm writing to ask whether you would consider lifting the 1RR restriction you imposed when you unblocked me on 8 January 2026.
It has now been almost nine months since the restriction was imposed, and I have continued editing without any further block or apparent issues. I believe my editing since then demonstrates that I have taken the concerns that led to the original block seriously and have changed my approach.
I understand and accept why the restriction was imposed at the time, but I would be grateful if you could review whether it is still necessary.
Thank you for considering it.

Shamsul Haque (Mymensingh politician)
[edit]This article contains incorrect information. Md. Shamsul Huda won the Gafargaon constituency in Mymensingh in 1970. Md. Shamsul Haque won the Muktagacha constituency in 1973. Md. Shamsul Huda and Md. Shamsul Haque are two different individual person. Md. Shamsul Haque an organizer and freedom fighter in 1971 and he was a member of parliament in 1973 and he was an advocate and he was a professor and he was a politician and he was a homeopathic doctor and he was a social activists and he was born in 1 January 1937 and he was died in 6 July 2004 and he was also joined 1966 six point movement and 1969 and 1990 revolution. This article was preserved in Bengali and English Wikipedia for a long time. I may not be able to add everything about my personal life as evidence. Because even though all this information is in the documents, it is not available on the internet. I think that the Wikipedia article is evidence. In cases where this information is there for many years and no one changes it, this belief is greater than evidence. And that he fought the liberation war in 1971. He was an MP in 1973. He was a politician. He was an advocate. The evidence of these is online. You are making one mistake. You are creating confusion by mixing Md. Shamsul Haque with Md. Shamsul Huda, who won the current Mymensingh-10 constituency, that is Gafargaon constituency, in the 1970 Pakistan Constituent Assembly elections. Md. Shamsul Haque was elected from the then Mymensingh-10 constituency, that is Muktagacha constituency, in the 1973 elections. Please check and correct your incorrect information immediately and correct this article with the correct information I gave in the previous article on Bangla Wikipedia and English Wikipedia. Otherwise, the wrong message will reach people. So, please do this quickly. I hope you understand what I mean. ~2026-48185-55 (talk) 17:56, 6 September 2026 (UTC)

IP range block and edit war
[edit]Hi PhilKnight. I wonder if I could get your opinion on what appears to be an emerging edit war on the article The Doe Network, and an IP editor who claims to have edited under an account name that I don't think exists, and is currently under a range block that you issued.
The editor HBelusky changed the organization's official URL from www.doenetwork.org to www.thedoenetwork.org. That was reverted by Fathoms Below but restored by HBelusky almost immediately. The account DoeNetwork then reverted it partly before being blocked by Mfield for WP:ORGNAME; a couple of TAs from the same IP then finished the reverts. Another TA (~2026-50120-93) under the IP rangeblock you issued for 148.170.96.0/19 commented on the activity in the article. They claim to be the organization's executive director, and were blocked when editing as the account "LAMatthews" (which doesn't exist).
There's not much information on what is going on with this organization other than this Reddit thread (not WP:RS, but that's all I got). It looks like there is an internal fracture within the organization after the death of the original executive director. On one side is his widow, the new executive director with a pending trademark. On the other side, there is a breakaway faction of former volunteers and managers, who cloned the original website under a new domain name.
I'm still a fairly newly-minted admin, and I've never waded into a dispute where two factions are wrestling for control of an article. I've already left messages with both parties, but should more be done? I am not sure if enough has happened to consider semi-protection for the article. What do you think? --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 05:08, 18 September 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Drm310, sorry for not responding earlier. I think you have handled this well. I am inclined to the view that those editors wanting to change the title and url (adding a "the") should provide a reliable source backing this change. The edit war seems to have stopped for now, so I don't think we need to semi-protect just yet. PhilKnight (talk) 15:02, 20 September 2026 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – October 2026
[edit]News and updates for administrators from the past month (September 2026).

- Following an RfC, the good article criteria have been amended to add accessibility requirements.
- Following an RfC, late signatures added to administrator recall petitions after 720 hours from opening are reverted or struck and do not count towards the threshold, even if the petition has not yet been formally closed.
- The post-May 2026 administrator elections RfCs concluded with consensus for election monitors to curate blatantly inappropriate questions after posting, and to remove or merge true duplicates, clearly marking merged questions. Calls for candidates will include advisory guidance that users with less than one year’s experience or 5,000 edits generally lack a realistic chance of success.
- Interface administrators no longer need to specify the
ResourceLoaderoption in the definitions for gadgets on MediaWiki:Gadgets-definition as gadgets are always loaded throughResourceLoader. (T298199) - The
list=abusefiltersAPI module now supportsformatversion=2and includes breaking changes to its responses. In particular, theactionsproperty is now a JSON array rather than a string, regardless of the format version. Maintainers of user scripts and other code using this module should check compatibility and update their code as needed. (T435828)
- The arbitration case Gun control 2 has been closed.
- Doug Weller passed away on 30 September 2026. Doug Weller began editing Wikipedia in 2006 and became an administrator in 2008, making nearly 275,000 edits over two decades. He served on the Arbitration Committee from 2015 through 2018 and was also a longtime CheckUser and Oversighter.
- The October 2026 administrator elections are scheduled to run from September 29 to October 19. The call for candidates ends October 5.
- Self-nominations for the electoral commission for the 2026 Arbitration Committee elections is opened and closes on 8 October.

Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page Nana Patekar, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:

Re: Protection of the page Deaths in August 2026
[edit]Hi. Thank you for what you have done regarding the persistent IP editor trying to add a non-notable Wikipedian in that month's list. Sadly, the talk page is open to anyone, and the IP range has been listing pointless requests for the same Wikipedian to be added, which I have been reverting on the basis of your rationale. Take a look at the revision history if you will. I will soon be at 3RR so I cannot proceed much further on this. Has an IP range block on the editor been considered? Thank you. Question about a block
[edit]Hi, I wanted to ask about your block of Workingtomato. Neanderthal
[edit]A few days ago you did a revert on a problem editor on the Neanderthal page; thanks for looking after things. At present, User:Dunkleosteus77 and myself have been doing pre-FAC edits to the article for get it ready for co-nomination and promotion at FAC from its current GA-status. I've listed it for Peer review at present for improvements, and was in the process of bringing in useful edits by agreement with User:Chidgk1. However, another user Mausfield has started reverting. Normally, Dunkleosteus would support in this situation however he's been busy the last week in RL. Mausfield has taken the position that he is a grad student with little time for following MOS, while another editor Noleander has called his wall-of-text edits on the Peer review page as being "incomprehensible". Could you look at this; Mausfield appears to wish to follow his own rules and not follow MOS. Can the peer review edits made by agreement with Chidgk1 be restored to the point of my last edit on that page? ErnestKrause (talk) 11:28, 25 October 2026 (UTC)
- I think you need an editor knowledgeable on the topic, not an admin. PhilKnight (talk) 12:25, 25 October 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for getting back on this. Both myself and Dunkleosteus are concerned with the edit misconduct issues by Mausfield. He appears to wish to use Talk pages and Peer reviews for publishing long wall-of-text forum discussions against Wikipedia policy; he has been told that Talk pages are not for long forum discussions and he has stated that he does not care. He is currently tag-bombing and edit warring to force his edits into the main space of the article, and again states that he does not care and will not restore the edits he is sequentially reverting here , and here , and here . Neither myself nor Dunkleosteus can get involved in edit warring of any kind since we are both opposed to edit warring on Wikipedia. Otherwise, I'm imagining that the Peer review for the article upgrades can be closed, and the pre-FAC upgrades might need to be dropped at this time unless the edit misconduct issues with User:Mausfield can be returned to normal. A restore of his sequential reverts might send the right type of message to User:Mausfield for him to stop edit warring; could you assist in trying to control these edit misconduct issue with User:Mausfield? IP User vandal has returned
[edit]An unregistered IP user ~2026-57133-71 is making ridiculous edits to Wet'n'Wild Gold Coast and a few other pages that include random references to Disney and Universal properties. The behavior is nearly identical to IP users whom you have blocked in the past.—JlACEer (talk) 18:11, 26 October 2026 (UTC)
- Nice spot. The IP originates from a school, probably shared Internet. Recommend a range block. 海盐沙冰 / aka irisChronomia / Talk / Uploads 18:34, 26 October 2026 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – November 2026
[edit]News and updates for administrators from the past month (October 2026).

- Following an RfC, election to ArbCom now requires at least 60% support. Successful candidates normally serve two-year terms, with one-year terms retained for filling vacancies. Proposals to change the election rules may now be added throughout the year and discussed on the talk page; formal discussion remains in September.
- Following an RfC, first-time reviewers’ reviews require an experienced reviewer’s check, and GA requirements now include alt text and accessible tables. Featured articles may receive GA status during removal discussions if they meet GA criteria. Backlog drives will run every five months, with a points leaderboard and awards for the top five participants.
- Self-nominations for the Arbitration Committee are open until 11 November 2026.
- Ongoing backlog drives: Copy editing, Unreference articles
